Cannes' Stars are Shining

What a great press conference for Inglourious Basterds!

Cast of the movie

Eli Roth, Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger and Quentin Tarantino

Brad

More Brad - this time closer up

Quentin Tarantino is just so lively and spirited and passionate about the films he makes. And he expresses it with these big gestures and hand movements. Very different to the straight-laced Lars von Trier who won’t say very much about what he does, or why he does it. Brad Pitt provided much banter with Tarantino – when Tarantino explained how much he wanted to work with Brad and the lengths he went to to realize this, Brad simply said, “he had me at hello.” There are snippets of the press con on the http://www.ewn.co.za/ website, under my Cannes feature. The film’s stars will walk the red carpet tonight – and of course everyone is waiting to catch a glimpse of Brad and Angie there together.

Last night I went to a cocktail party for New Moon, the next film in the Twilight series. We got to see never-before-seen footage from the film and it looks good so far. Still heart-tugging. But most importantly, I fulfilled many a young girl’s dream to stand next to Robert Pattinson and share a joke with him.

I picked up my accreditation for tomorrow night’s the big amfAR Aids benefit event. It’s hosted annually by Sharon Stone to raise money for HIV/Aids work and this year’s special guest is Bill Clinton and Annie Lennox will be performing. The rest of the guest list looks great – Oscar winner Marion Cotillard, Emile Hirsch, Elizabeth Hurley, Claudia Schiffer, 50 Cent and my personal favourite, singer Damien Rice. Looking very forward to that one!

Gosh Rob is so cute. Wish I could have met him. Can't wait for the new movie to come out. Hope it is as good as the book, but I'm sure it will be!

The clip was a part where Bella (Kristen Stewart's character) was talking to Edward (Robert's character) and he was telling her to leave and trying to convince her that he didn't want her around. It was a short clip and I don't know what happened before or after, but Robert said he's not in this movie as much as the first one. Also, he hadn't even seen the clip, and watched it biting his nails...sweet!

i heard that life & style magazine was reporting that they were changint the marriage proposal at the end of new moon if they do that and go off of the story of the books they will have a lot of very upset twilighter fans and maybe an uproar amoung them that reallym is an important part of the book and all of the story so i hope they are wrong

I would ask Robert if he realizes that the Twilight series is more than just teen romance novels. I am not a teen and I am not one that grabs a romance novel when I am looking for a good read. I read a lot of books, and I mean a lot. I am an intelligent person and had no desire to read these books, thinking they were just for teenage girls. I think of myself as trying to read things with more depth, or more educational value. But, I was being a snob. The books were really, really good. The appeal is not necessarily the romance between.. two teens, but the dynamics of every angle of that relationship. Then there is the suspense and Stephanie is really good at this part, there are plenty of twists and turns. One thing I did do, is read the portion of Midnight Sun that Stephanie had posted on her website and that really provided a whole other perspective...I hope Rob realizes like I did...that Edward has a sense of humor, I know that he got that Edward was intense and dangerous, but really he is quite witty. Anyway, my point was to not underestimate the books or the movie because you think there is just a teen audience Robert...I think when people look back on this down the road, they will see the Twilight series as much more. You happen to be an actor that is good looking, and fortunately the heavens were smiling on you and your path crossed with the right people, and the right movie and the right time...and by the way, not just any handsome man could play this part, so give yourself some credit. There had to be some mystery and an edge to the guy that portrayed Edward Cullin and you provided this. Edward only had to be gorgeous in Bella's eyes, from her perspective...like she said there is more to Edward than the face. So, as you film these movies remember that there is another audience...not just a star struck bunch of teenagers, but fans of the literature that are out here too.Looking forward to New Moon..to me it is by far the best of the books!
